Fourteen East

Isn’t it just lovely when you discover a new store?  Well, Fourteen East is my new discovery and thankfully it is right near Wayne State. Fourteen East is a new cafe/gallery located on E Kirby ( just down the street from the DIA).  I ordered a simple cappuccino but the menu is everything but simple.  Some of their specialties include french pressed coffee and a vacuum siphon; which looks like a very interesting contraption. Another specialty besides the gourmet coffee  is the authentic french macarons from Madeline’s French Patisserie. The coffee is also Michigan made, Chazzano’s roasted organic coffee.

Fourteen East also works with local artist and sells eco-friendly products. One company that they are working with is Paperworks Studio. Paperworks Studio from Traverse City, Michigan creates unique hand-made  greeting cards. These cards are made by artist with special needs and disadvantages.  Also all of the cards are made from recycled products like coffee, jeans and even beer.

Meeting rooms are also available for those who need a relaxing space  to meet for business. While having a meeting, or just enjoying the cafe you can enjoy looking at the artwork featured at Fourteen East. Each month  Fourteen East displays the  work of a different artist. During my visit the artist was Carole Harris “Something Like A Jitterbug.”

Can’t wait to make another visit, and I hope others do as well. Here is a picture from my visit, I had the cappuccino at the top and my sister ordered the gingerbread hot chocolate.
